When destined Souls
Meet for the first time,
A magic lull fills the atmosphere.
The stars align for a brief moment,
Just to pay their respects.
A masterpiece this beautiful is meant
To be treasured; and
If done so with affectionate intent-
Love can blossom.
Like lilies sun kissed
On the morning of a Spring Equinox,
A lover’s touch can bring hope.
Hope purer than innocence and
Untainted with societal values.
Those lucky enough to be
Touched by its beauty,
Have taken breaths of
True serenity and Serendipity.
A four letter drug, that
Takes the soul on an adventure
Higher than any
Natural herb or ayahuasca
Reality ever could.
A feeling like this is precious, yet
Dangerous in all the right ways; and
If we took all the ways that
Love can heal - I know
Our world would be in a better place.
There’s an art in listening to heartbeats,
A subtle drumming that makes life
Suddenly worth it.
Tuning into its melodic symphony is
Just the beginning, but
Appreciating its value is
What’s really important.
I wonder
How some can go lifetimes without
Submitting to Love’s authenticity.
How some would rather
Search for false truths
Rather than seek life’s meanings.
I can only hope that someday those
Tainted by enemies
Will find the power to give love
In order to start a
Chain reaction of healing…
I believe, (whatchu believe)
I believe that there’s a magic lull that
Fills the atmosphere
When destined souls
Meet for the first time.
Call it fate
Or what you will... but
As zeniths align and hearts merge,
Love is the only energy
In this universe that has the
Power to stop life in an instant.
Only to start it back up again so that
Heartbeats can be felt in unison.
Like when electrons bond covalently,
An instant spark
Jolts throughout the membrane.
Skin glowing with the warmth of Love.
What is felt can't be described with words!
But analogous to this sensation
Is a combination of actions that
Stem from the seed
By which we were conceived.
This force is the root of all greatness.
It resides in me, and
You and the
Universe we consume.
It’s beyond any scientific method or
Calculated theorem yet,
It runs through our capillaries.
An entity intangible.
I feel.
I feel a magic lull that
Permeates this empty void-
Stitching severed connections,
Bridging new beginnings, and
Fusing two souls into one heartbeat.
There’s an art in listening to heartbeats.
A subtle drumming that makes life
Suddenly worth it,
So listen carefully...
Tune in to your frequency…
Feel the Love - that energy

Sometimes roses bloom early.
They awaken to the sun’s rays because
They are too beautiful to be hidden; and
When they bloom,
Their petals stretch
Hugging the beauty of nature—
Only found when we open up. but
We learn that
Opening up leads to vulnerabilities
No matter how many thorns
We have to warn
Off predators. and
Some roses learn too little too late that
Controlling these vulnerabilities is a
Matter of life and death. that
Opening up can mean
Being taken for granted
By other roses
And other plants
And other hands…
The life of a rose
Rests in the hands of generations.
Generations that have
Picked roses for their beauty
While ironically admiring their deaths…
Have you ever seen a rose cry?
Tears shed as each petal falls
Leaving naked stems
Up for interpretation.
When did being beautiful
Become so cruel?
When did the beauty of a young woman
Become her fault?
When did the beauty of a young man
Become his weakness?
Our roses have been tricked!
They have been picked so many times, by
Generations before us.
Our roses have grown sick.
Poisoned with unnatural elements
Disguised to provide nourishment.
Our thorns no longer weather storms
They wither in darkness.
Coming to the light
Is a journey made impossible
For those
Who forgot what the sun looks like…
Blinded by the shadows that
Comfort our insecurities.
Stuck in a facade that
Controls our lack of reasoning.
Weakened by the weeds that
Climb toward our trellises
Stopping us from breathing freely and
Accepting the beauty that life provides us.
When did leaning on each other for support
Turn into deliberately
Pulling each other down?
We have become house plants
Sheltered by our surroundings
Growth stunted by a lack of belonging.
We are no longer wild flowers longing to
Embrace life or each other.
We no longer feel
Love, passion, appreciation?
Why do we feel anger, envy, and
Unfulfillment?
We rather compete with each other
Than build up an army of
Beautifully defined free thinkers?
What happened to dancing in the rain?
Did that used to wash away our troubles?
What happened to shining flawlessly
In the sunshine?
We used to look so much happier.
Before these shadows created frowns.
Now
Our roses are becoming discolored.
No longer vibrant.
Color Blinded?
Just there.
We no longer see
Rainbows.
Just double.
Visions of ourselves no longer
Radiate from within.
They taunt us from society and
Dissolve at the surface
Haunting us from the outside
In.
Mirror images (mirror images)
Just ghosts looking for a
Reflection.
Who knew that the thought of
Beauty,
The thought of
Life,
Would be...
Would be the scariest thing
Society would search for, but
Would never have to go far to
Find.
Have you ever seen a rose cry?
Tears shed as each petal falls

[Chorus]
Change.
We say we want
Change.
Funny how things need to
Change.
After being wrong for so long.
How many more voices will say it?
How many more movements will it take?
How many more bodies are at stake?
How many more lives will be claimed?
For change?
Are we going to stop blaming wombyn
And anyone who has been a victim
To these misogynistic, patriarchal systems?
To these conditioned ways of thinking?
To these traditional ways of being?
To these divisive ways of seeing?
Have we
Forgotten that each of us is still breathing?
Coerced into believing
In a system that consistently mistreats?
Living in a quote un quote Man’s world
Is not an invitation.
I’ll repeat: Is not an invitation
For anyone to be
Raped, assaulted, sexually violated or violent.
One is one too much
Enough is enough—
Millions still Marching…
#1 Billion and more Rising.
#16 days and counting. #Me too. #Times up.
How many more campaigns and hashtags
Will it take us?
How many of our loved ones will be hurt?
How many more will be murdered?
#Sayhername
Say it again.
Remember Her face.
And remember His.
Feel the presence of our Kin.
Ignite from within.
Movement—Keep moving
What are you—Waiting for
[Chorus]
Are we going to continue to let
Government decide what is best for us?
The same representatives
Whose hands are greased
By big corporate lobbyists?
These Men in suits red taping the
Anatomies of wombyn’s bodies
Like they own the right to reproduction!
The epitome of toxic masculinity
Portrayed by the presidency.
Church and State is not separate. Just a
Mass control system to keep us in our places.
Too many followers and
Not enough quality leaders, and an
Educational system that is too stubborn to
Adapt to the metrics of meters.
Good-bye 2020! but
We still have mass corruption,
Mass consumption, mass incarceration,
Hidden and overt racism, sexism,
Nepotism, and classism, xenophobia,
Homophobia, transphobia,
All the phobias, all the isms,
And “all lives matter!”
Well Black Lives Matter! And
It’s not only a Black and white matter
When Asians and Latinx,
Indigenous and New Americans,
Pacific Islanders and Caribbeans, and
Every other geographic region have
Poured blood, sweat, and tears into a
Legacy their offsprings will carry.
Offsprings who are fusions and blends of
Ethnicities that represent a dream that is
Not quite American as it is of our
Ancestors that persevere through the
Fire and the rain and the
Wind and the terrain to
Grant us this opportunity for…
[Chorus]
Will we as a society hold people
More accountable for their
Abominable actions?
Will we challenge any of the systems
Operating on oppression?
Enabling insidious hatred and
Reoccurring microaggressions?
Will we address elected officials
Wishing to harm us?
Highlighting violence used to remind us
Survival of the fittest is the ultimate guidance
Perpetuating cycles of internalized silence.
Money trails lead back
To the spirals that bind us.
Fragile minds conveniently disguised
By a nation built up on lies
Hidden in plain site
Wearing suits and ties
Will we acknowledge
The sadness, the madness?
The baggage?
The differences in understanding?
The margins?
The intersectionalities?
The stereotypes, and the prejudices?
The denial, the displacement,
The erasing, and the blaming?
The listening that needs
To begin and continue taking place?
How long will we wait?
Will we speak to the fears
Running through the veins of
Our friends, our colleagues, and our Kin?
Will we call out our peers?
Or will we invite them in?
Will we learn how to create again?
Build up our imaginations like
When we were kids back then?
Will we instill power into future generations?
End cycles that restrict our aspirations?
Will we manifest healthy relationships?
Will we dive deep into our own consciousness?
Will we learn from our history or let it repeat?
Will we move our feet and voice our peace?
Are we ready to seek the lives we have been destined to reap?
Are we ready for ALL OF US to be free?
The world is waiting for change.
We need change…
We can't keep living this way.
We need change…
Change.
Is it worth the change?
Are we willing to change?
Change…
Will we?
Will you?
When?
[Chorus]

Every face has a story
Every heart can feel loved
Every soul has a purpose
Every smile can touch
Every life has meaning
Every struggle is proof
The more I love
The more I can do.
May the beauty of life be
Romantically intangible, so that
When I look back at the legacy I have lived
I will have grown with every step.
I will have been curious of
Every beginning and every end.
I will have loved with
Every ounce and every depth.
May these experiences be kept like
My journal; A gift.
Treasured and memorable.
Only to be shared by me.
May Love—
May Love protect me like a
Handmade blanket.
Warm, unique, special.
Overflowing in abundance.
Bringing comfort to those lucky enough
To be touched by its perfection.
May I see the m.a.g.i.c. in their eyes
As I inspire the hope of future generations.
Once, confused.
As I encounter the impact
I have so graciously ignited.
I ask if not me, then who?
Life’s too short to live in darkness.
I'm letting my light shine out of this world
Without borders.
I am the chain reaction
I want to be a part of and more
Importantly, I refuse to give up!
I will dance until
I can no longer dance anymore.
I will run until
I lift off and soar.
It’s the moments we share,
That show we care…
If only there were more.
When I'm high in the sky,
I hope you will think of me
Wishing you well from here.
I know sometimes it’s hard to see.
Every journey started has meaning.
Every heart is meant to keep beating.
One energy moving fluidly—
Wabi-Sabi.
The people in my life are here for a reason.
As I discover new truths,
May I find a way to embrace them.
May my friendships flourish and
My family continue to grow.
May I see the strings
As they intertwine, never tangle.
Moving at the same rate.
Never minding time.
May I find
The beauty of life.
I'm breathing this air
As if this was my last breath.
I'm embracing my journey.
It could be the only physical one I have left.
When I bid farewell to this chapter,
May my soul finally be at rest-
Becoming one with Mother Nature
As I begin to ascend.
Dandelion kisses are hope.
Subtle and ready to grow.
Each seed; a life of its own.
Simply blown.
Dancing in the wind,
Until making a way home.
Every face has a story
Every heart can feel loved
Every soul has a purpose
Every smile can touch
Every life has meaning
Every struggle is proof
The more we love
The more we can do.
May we find
The beauty of life.
Romantically i n t a n g i b l e.
So close, though
O n l y g r a s p e d
W h e n f e l t.
